About us

About Christ Central Church Bridgwater

A Jesus-centred church family in Bridgwater. Who we are, what we believe, and where we're heading.

Our vision

Jesus at the centre. People at the heart. The world in mind.

We're people of different ages, cultures and stories, brought together not by what we have in common but by what Jesus Christ has done for us. As a church in Bridgwater, we want to worship God wholeheartedly, build genuine community, grow as disciples, and live for the advance of God's Kingdom and the building of His Church — in our homes, workplaces, friendships, and across our town.

  • The church standing together in worship at Northgate School

    Jesus at the centre

Everything begins with Jesus. We want Christ at the centre of our church and of our everyday lives, knowing Him more deeply and becoming more like Him.

  • Friends sharing a warm hug at church

    People at the heart

People matter deeply to Jesus, so they matter deeply to us. We want to be a place where people of every background know, care for and celebrate one another.

    The world in mind

What Jesus does in us is never meant to stop with us. We live to carry Him into our streets, schools, workplaces and wider communities, and out to the world.

What we value

Our five core values

  • The congregation listening to Bible teaching on a Sunday

    Scripture

We uphold the Bible as God's inerrant and authoritative Word, faithfully teaching its truth as essential for growth.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.ESVYour word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.ESVFor the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.ESV

  • People worshipping with hands raised

    Spirit

We depend on the Holy Spirit, being filled with him, following his leading and exercising his gifts for the common good.

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,ESVBut you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.ESVTo each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.ESV

  • People singing in worship on a Sunday

    Worship

We pursue a lifestyle of passionate and expressive biblical praise, worship, and prayer.

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.ESVMake a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!ESVLet the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.ESV

  • People praying for one another on a Sunday

    Community

We express authentic community, where every member is a minister and unity is valued within the local and wider church.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.ESVAs each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:ESVFor as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.ESV

    Mission

We proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom, long to see people find living hope in Jesus, and grow as His followers.

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.ESVGo therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.ESVHow then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”ESV

Affiliated with the Evangelical Alliance

Christ Central Church Bridgwater is affiliated with the Evangelical Alliance, joining churches across the UK around a shared, historic evangelical faith. It gives a clear reference point for the core Christian convictions we hold — the Triune God, the authority of Scripture, the person and saving work of Jesus Christ, salvation by grace through faith, the ministry of the Holy Spirit, the Church, and the return of Christ.

Part of the Church in Bridgwater

We are Christ Central Church, but we are not the whole Church. We believe Jesus' prayer for unity in John 17 matters, and we gladly stand alongside other churches across Bridgwater as, together, we love and serve our town and share the good news of Jesus. We are also part of the Bridgwater Evangelical Network (BEN).

On Sundays

A place for every generation
